Leftovers from The Slanted Door without actually going there – 27 September 2011

Our friends M&N passed through on their way back to the airport from their brief vacation at Pt. Reyes. They returned our coolers and reusable ice packs, with a pile of leftovers they couldn’t conveniently take on the plane with them. The first we had was from their brunch on the 24th at The Slanted Door in SF.

D cooked these up: reheated rice, a lovely though not unique chicken dish in very little sauce, and some haricots in a very delicious sauce with just the slightest bit of hotness to it. He also left some rice noodles (?) cold. These had a seafood in them, I think, and also cilantro garnish. Everything was very tasty. I had pretty much despaired of ever going to Editthe Slanted Door b/c of the wait and the price, so this was a nice way to try their food.

We had a 2010 Sauvignon Blanc called “Vintjs” from Napa Valley that I got today at Trader Joe’s. It was quite good for $5.99.
