Cappellini with pesto; fresh tomato – 19 September 2011

D got home about midnight – ok, not quite that late, more like 8pm – and whipped up a great dinner in no time, by pulling 3 cubes (made in an ice cube tray) of pesto out of the freezer.

He microwaved them to defrost, and cooked some cappellini – chosen b/c it cooks quickly, no doubt – to serve it on. He also cut our last Dirty Girl Farm early girl tomato into quarters and we each had two of them.

He made thin slices of yesterday’s new no-knead bread and toasted them lightly, and drizzled a bit of olive oil on them.

D got to Trader Joe’s today and bought a pile of inexpensive but good wines. Tonight we had a J Vidal Fleury Cotes du Rhone, which was good, and an appropriate choice for the dinner.
