Calabrian Pizza from Rotten City – 16 May 2011

We’re having a big cleanup/renovate week, with R helping me and D painting the kitchen, so D suggested we just plan on someone else cooking for us.

R is a big fan of Emeryville’s Rotten City Pizza (named after its city, once called a rotten city by someone or other), so we decided to try it out. R suggested their Calabrian pizza, and it was very good, with just the right degree of hot, and some interesting touches – like roasted fennel seeds tossed on at the end. An extra large – they all are, apparently.

We ate the whole thing, too. Couldn’t resist 🙂 That’s D pulling out the first pieces.

D chose a wine we got Saturday at Vino, a Cairanne by Vieux Clocher. It was a terrific match to the pizza.
