Hamburgers on no-knead bread; broccoli – 24 April 2011

When we tried out the Tractor Shed Red from Costco, we both thought it lacked clarity and sublety, though had a good taste. Hamburger wine! I declared, and so D tried it out with this meal. It went pretty well.

He defrosted a half pound of hamburger, and mixed with chopped red onions, garlic, Lea and Perrins Worcertershire Sauce, and a Lousiana hot sauce called “Crystal” that we got quite awhile ago (meaning: years) for some other purpose. The hamburgers were great. D didn’t grill them, which was a good thing as they weren’t hanging together all that well. But they tasted good. We had Heinz ketchup and mayonnaise on them, and some romaine leaves, which you can see sticking out the sides. D also boiled some broccoli, and then put it into the pan with the hamburgers that were almost done, presumably to keep the broccoli warm and add some interesting flavor. He squeezed a bit of lemon over the top after plating it.
