Spaghetti with tomato sauce; corn; salad – 1 Jan 2011

Welcome to side six…. oh rather… year two. For the previous year of this blog, please go to my365dinners.

For the first dinner of the year, this at Mom’s, Mom asked me to make spaghetti sauce from scratch. I used C’s recipe, and it was quite tasty.

The sauce had hamburger (instead of C’s usual meatballs), mushrooms, and celery. It’s very thick, as it uses one 28-oz can of tomatoes and 12 oz of tomato paste. But it works. Mom thought corn would be good with this, which it was, and we also had a simple salad.

We had a wine D had chosen before he left, Chateau le Grand Clinet, 2006, which is labeled “Premieres Cotes du Bordeaux.” B and I both enjoyed it.
